Who Can Apply
Any Individual Person
Any individual, even if not currently in business, can apply for a trademark for a name or logo they intend to use in the future.
Shared Ownership
A Firm’s joint proprietors can apply for a trademark together, and both of their names may be listed in the application.
Partnership Firm
A partnership (up to 10 members) must list all partners in the trademark application. If a minor is involved, their guardian’s name must also be included.
LLP (Limited Liability Partnership)
Trademark applications for an LLP must be filed in the llps name, not by individual partners. however, all partners names should be included in the application.
Indian Corporation
Any Indian company must apply for a trademark in its own name, as it is a separate legal entity. Directors cannot apply individually.
Foreign Corporation
Foreign companies must apply using their official registered name, specify the law under which they are incorporated, and provide an Indian business address for operations.
Society or Trust
When filing a trademark application on behalf of a trust or society, the managing trustee, chairman, or secretary of the trust or society must be mentioned.

Name
A personal name, surname, or signature (e.g., Dhirubhai Ambani) can be trademarked.

Word
A unique, non-descriptive word, like “Google,” can be trademarked.

Numbers
Alphabets, numbers, or a creative mix—like 555 Brands.

Images
Images, symbols, monograms, 3D shapes, letters, and more—like Nikes tick logo.

Sound
Sound marks in audio format, like iconic ad jingles or musical sound tones.

Shape of Goods
Shape of goods that distinguish the product, like the unique Coca-Cola bottle design.
Documents required
- Applicant’s / Company Name
- Type of business
- Nature of business (specific goods/services)
- Name of a brand/logo/slogan
- Registrant's mailing address with PIN CODE.
